God’s intention for the human creation was oneness, for a man and a woman to be one. When a man and a woman are one, children become one and the union becomes a continuous trail.
26 Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us… 27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God He created them; male and female He created them. Gen 1:26-27
God made a declaration on human creation before creating them, that they’ll be like God. We know that God is a three in one, the Father; the son and the Holy Spirit. When we make reference to God, we are referring to the Trinity. So, when He created both male and female, He created them in that God like image of oneness. Male and female became two in one.
The formation of man (Genesis 2:7) was the physical manifestation of the created male and female, the two-in-one.
7 Then the lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Genesis 2:7 This being the man that is two-in-one, Adam.
Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam – Genesis 5:1 KJV. Adam meaning man.
We notice that the scripture tells us that God formed “the man” and not “a man” and called him “man” and not “a man”. The befitting dictionary definition of ‘man’ says, it is a generic use of the word to refer to any human being.
After the formation of man, God said it is not good for him to be alone (Gen 2:18-19). Alone, meaning all in one. Therefore, he decided to give him a help meet. However, instead of creating someone all new, He separated the two from one body. Out of Adam’s body He formed the woman.
What is the purpose of a help meet? God is all powerful and able. He could achieve anything He wants even from that one body, but He saw the need to separate the two.
Be fruitful and multiply – Genesis 1:28. Adam had a task to regenerate himself, for God had planted in him a seed that encourages regeneration. However, in one body how would the regeneration process have worked?
23 “At last!” the man exclaimed. “This one is bone from my bone, and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken from ‘man.’” Genesis 2:23
Finally, Adam had someone that he could correspond with. As he exclaims, it is from a space of knowing who she is. In Spirit, these two knew each other to be male and female, so when Adam saw the woman, spiritually they were still connected. He called her woman, one with a womb formed from a man.
The separation of the two from one body was to fulfill another purpose. However, the two remained one Spiritually.
24 This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Genesis 2:24
So as much as man and woman were separated physically, that could not overtake the idea God had of the two being one. For this reason, a man cannot be without a woman nor can a woman be without a man. It is not impossible, but also, it is not a normality.
Through marriage, we fulfill the purpose for the physical separation of male and female, be fruitful and multiply. We also reactivate God’s idea of oneness. The enemy has however made it its mission to limit the possibilities of marriage, attempting to limit the fulfillment of the purpose as well as the idea of oneness. We have a shortage of men due to their gender preference; women that prefer independence due to struggles in finding suitable partners; high divorce rate and general lack of interest in marriage. God however raises standards. He always makes a way to recover whatever the enemy takes or blocks.
Due to all his attempts and acts to limit the multiplication of human creation, we have a huge number of children from single parented households. We also have women who struggle to bear children. However, God says to these women in Isaiah 54:1-5
1 “Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the lord. 2 “Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home and spare no expense! 3 For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities. 4 “Fear not; you will no longer live in shame. Don’t be afraid; there is no more disgrace for you. You will no longer remember the shame of your youth and the sorrows of widowhood. 5 For your Creator will be your husband; the lord of Heaven’s Armies is his name! He is your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the earth.
So, no matter what space you are in at whatever point in your life, it is God’s will for you. Never feel bad as a woman for wanting to get married because you were created to be joined to a man. But God says, if you are with child(ren) and not married, widowed or barren, rejoice because He has made you His and therefore shall take care of you and your children.
It is everyone’s right to be joined to another for we were created for another. In God’s eyes we are one. Therefore, we should always strive for that oneness, unity.
